The Fondest of Farewells.

The beginning of August saw a very special lunch being held at Pilcher’s Field to recognise the services of two very special people.

Both current and former members of the  house and executive committees joined with residents to pay tribute to Delia Crichton and Morag Landers. Delia has been the voluntary chairman of the House Committee and valued member of the Executive Committee for nearly 20 years, and in that time made a significant contribution to the development and running of Pilcher’s Field.

Morag acted more recently as Secretary to both the Pilcher’s Field  House Committee  and Executive Committee and in her three years of service  has made a professional and positive contribution to the ongoing success of the house.

The trustees have instructed an architect to prepare plans to build some additional apartments on the adjacent land at Pilcher’s Field together with additional car parking spaces and landscaping. More news and availability regarding this to follow.

Celebrating 25 years of The Abbeyfield Buckland Monachorum Society in Crapstone at their house, Pilcher’s Field.

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of our house in Crapstone, we had a huge (approx 6ft by 7ft) quilted wall hanging made by local artist Brenda Steed. She has beautifully depicted a scene including Buckland Church, the wild garden at the Garden House as well as the background hills and moorland - including a 'black sheep'! - as representative of the views from the House'.  We moved from the original Abbeyfield House 25 years ago as that was proving unsuitable for the changing needs of residents, and the land for the present house was generously obtained from Mrs. Rosalind Pilcher - hence the name of the house.
